Summary

According to Far Eastern legend, an animal may be able to gain immortality and sentience by living for far longer than its kin. While korpokkurs aren't exactly animals per sae, one from the island of Hingashi has managed to achieve auspice-hood. It has taken the name Marimo, and is now set on exploring all of Etheirys in her newly acquired spoken form. Being what amounts to little more than a sentient cabbage, her powers do fall short of what one would assume an auspice to have, but make no mistake, she can absolutely carry her own weight when it comes to battle, healing her party members, and causing chaos.

Despite being a small, bird-like plant having taken a humanoid form, Marimo blends in fairly well with her spoken companions. If you can ignore the plants that often are growing from her hair and her ability to interrogate the local blades of grass, that is. She is a scion, though not the Warrior of Light. She is a staple member of the Scion's B team, and often helps cleaning up when the Warrior of Light is off doing... whatever he does to avoid scion things. She enjoys painting and writing, often sketching out the places and people she meets in her travels. And also all the fanfic and ship art she writes and draws of the WoL and her fellow scions.

Personality

For being such a small person, Marimo has quite a bit of personality. She takes her self-imposed title of queen seriously. Well, about as seriously as someone like Titania, which is to say she's more into the playing with and messing with people and having her seedkin subjects help carry all her books. She's not mean, but she also doesn't quite care to learn how mortals work and that they don't always appreciate her playful teasing. She is super curious about the world, and is filled with more wanderlust than she knows what to do with. She has dedicated herself to following in the Warrior of Light's wake, slipping by in her much more inconspicuous korpokkur form to get to new places to fill her sketchbooks with, which is how she even ended up with the scions in the first place. She is playful and outgoing, and likes doing a lot of the talking for her light party of misfits. The queen moniker isn't a complete fluke, as she has some real skill in the art of parley when she's not actively trying to annoy people.

Trivia

  • Her nicknames include, and are not limited to: Moss, Mari, Mario, Marinara, Marinara Sauceball, Marmalade. I think she got called Mississippi once.
  • Her rather faint Echo (or maybe it's just auspice powers) allow Marimo to speak to seedkin and manipulate the growth of normal, brainless plants. She can even glamour a seedkin into a spoken form, an ability she uses mostly for her retainers.
  • Her job is most similar to a scholar, though she lacks the traditional fairy a scholar would have. Instead, she casts her spells much like how a pictomancer would, quickly and furiously painting in her grimoire to channel her aether. Her spells have a pretty watercolor flourish thanks to this, and also often incorporates natural elements like water and plants, much like a conjurer.

Design notes

  • Please do not forget the sprout on her head! It is not optional.
  • Beyond her sprout, she can have whatever other smaller sprouts and flowers growing from her hair! Or none aside from her sprout, if that's what you prefer. As long as the size of the flowers/extra leaves/sprouts are within reason, go for it!
  • Her pupils are significantly lighter than a normal human's, being a dull, pale green that's only a bit darker than her iris.
  • Corset has flowers embroidered onto it. The embroidery is not symmetrical.
  • Long part of her hair ends just below her shoulders.
  • Cape has a mild gradient, from green to a yellowish brown. It is also lightly ton on the bottom!
  • You can simplify her book as much as you need if you want to draw it. FFXIV weapons suck. I understand.
